Jones Mini Farm: Sales Policy & Buyer Agreement
Welcome! We are dedicated to the health and happiness of our goats. To ensure our "babies" go to the best possible homes, we have established the following policies. By sending a deposit, the buyer agrees to all terms listed below.
General Purchase Policies
-
Visitor Policy: For the health and safety of our herd, we do not allow farm visitors. We are happy to provide references and offer FaceTime calls to view goats before purchase.
-
Right of Retention: Jones Mini Farm reserves the right to retain any kid from any breeding at any time. If a deposit was placed on a retained kid, it will be refunded or applied to another available goat.
-
Right of Refusal: We reserve the right to refuse a sale for any reason.
-
The "Buddy" Rule: Goats are social animals. We will not sell a single goat to a home that does not already have goats. You must purchase at least two if you do not already have others.
Deposits & Payments
-
Reservations: A deposit of 25% of the total price is required to reserve a specific goat.
-
Refunds: Deposits are non-refundable unless we cannot provide a kid that meets your stated criteria.
-
Payment Methods: Deposits are accepted via Venmo or Cash App ONLY.
-
Final Balance: Cash is preferred for the remaining balance at pickup. We will accept Venmo or Cash App if necessary, but we do NOT accept checks under any circumstances.
Pickup & Boarding
-
Standard Pickup: Kids must be picked up at 10 weeks old unless otherwise agreed upon to pick up earlier. A boarding fee of $5/day applies if they stay past the agreed-upon date.
-
Bottle Kids: Must be picked up at 4 weeks old. A boarding fee of $10/day applies after this timeframe.
-
Disbudding: All kids are disbudded before leaving. We do not sell horned goats.
New Owner Information & Care Guide
Health & Guarantee
-
Post-Sale Health: Moving is stressful for goats. While we are available for advice, we are not responsible for stress or illness once the goat leaves our farm.
-
Limited Guarantee: If a veterinarian proves a structural defect existed prior to sale, we will replace the goat with one of comparable quality within 12 months (no cash refunds). This limited guarantee only applies to goat kids. Adult goats are sold AS IS. Full transparency will be maintained, and all knowledge of pre-existing conditions or behavioral concerns will be shared.
-
Wethers: Bucklings purchased as wethers will be banded at 10 weeks old once they have received both CDT vaccine doses. It is the buyer's responsibility to coordinate this timing with us.
Essential Care & Nutrition
-
Acclimation: Keep new goats in a small, escape-proof area for the first few days while they adjust. This applies to adults and kids. Never keep a goat fully alone for long periods of time.
-
Bottle Feeding: Follow our feeding schedule exactly. We use warm goat milk (or whole cow's milk) and Excal nipples.
-
Note: Never feed water from a bottle; water should only be provided in buckets.
Feeding & Minerals:
-
Grain: We use Kalmbach Milk and Meat as well as Kalmbach Start Right Medicated feed for kids.
-
Hay: Free-choice Coastal Bermuda and daily Alfalfa rations.
-
Minerals: Use loose minerals (we use Kalmbach 2:1) rather than blocks. Ensure wethers receive ammonium chloride to prevent urinary calculi.
-
Parasites: Check for lice twice monthly during winter and spring. Treat immediately if found. Become familiar with FAMANCHA and check eye membranes on kids every 4-6 weeks.
-
Disclaimer: These practices reflect how we manage Jones Mini Farm. With time and experience, you will develop your own techniques and methods. Good luck and enjoy your babies! For additional information download the Goat Care Guide provided on the Kid Request page.
